Cargo Architecture, in team with Amiot Bergeron / Architecture et Design Urbain, were tasked with redesigning the laboratory in the Paul-Comtois pavilion at the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences at Laval University.
The floor includes individual work desks, an open experimental space, storage rooms, and closed laboratories with machinery.
The new layout allows an efficient balance between workspaces and a smooth circulation flow around the central experimentation space. This specific space is partially partitioned and marked by a wooden ceiling drop.
Neutral and bright colors were chosen to make the places soothing and conducive to work while amplifying the natural light that now floods the space. Furthermore, the choice of colorful furniture elements creates a balance by accentuating the composition.
