LE CAMPE
Petite-Rivière-Saint-François
2018
The Le Campe project unfolds as a bold dialogue with its natural surroundings. With its striking volumetry and raw materiality, this contemporary retreat asserts its identity, standing tall and ready to face the elements. Divided into two distinct volumes, it is clad in black slatted wood and natural boards with batten siding, reminiscent of the rugged and timeless gear of a lumberjack.
This raw materiality blends seamlessly with the surrounding conifers, while the volumetry follows the rugged topography of the site, creating a harmonious connection between the building and its landscape.
In contrast to its rugged exterior, the interior of Le Campe features a minimalist finish. Warm wooden surfaces echo traditional forest shelters, creating a welcoming and intimate space. At the heart of this retreat, the “conversation pit” fosters conviviality among the eight guests while enhancing their connection to nature.
This contemporary refuge reimagines the imagery of the Quebec chalet while redefining its role for modern living, where simplicity and nature come together.
