Having at heart the desire to build the house of their dreams, the young owners have created, with their architect, a house that stands out for its simple but well-distributed geometry, on a triangular-shaped lot that follows the curve of the Bois-Brulés Street
The architecture of the house is divided into four (4) parts: the garage, made from an assembly of translucent polycarbonate sheets with an insulating cavity, the lower part in masonry, the upper part of the house in torrefied wood and the green areas of the roofs. The interior spaces are distinguished by their functionality and the warmth provided by the use of noble and natural materials. The windows, omnipresent with its well-positioned openings, offer dynamic points of view from the inside to the outside and vice versa, while maintaining the privacy of the occupants.
Several windows are arranged in the lower part so that young Sarah can safely enjoy the views on the south facade on the foliage of mature trees replanted, as well as the green views to the northwest on the garage's green roof and on the pool floor. The grass driveway stems from an innovative and effective idea to retain rainwater on the property and thus affirm the ecological vocation of this project even in the landscaping.
From the birth of the concept to its architectural development, the realization of the “Maison de Sarah” was a humanly enriching experience. Filled with challenges of building ingenuity, this Quebec City residence demonstrates that contemporary architecture can be accessible to people who want to make a difference and add value to construction heritage.
