The strong point of Cargo's proposal is to arrange the master bedroom on the ground floor and locate the living spaces upstairs.
This choice gives the living spaces a better supply of natural light given the density of the neighborhood, while giving them access to a terrace on the roof of the garage.
Access to the upper floor is via an elegant open staircase, naturally lit by a skylight. The terrace, which acts as the exterior extension of the living spaces, is sunny all day. Its privacy is preserved by means of a wall of plantations and a garden space between the terrace and the street frontage.
In addition, the backyard retains its plant cover and its natural appearance. To integrate into the character of the neighborhood while assuming the contemporary aspect of the project, the materials used are Corten steel panels, Iron Spot type clay brick, a high-end acrylic coating as well as a cladding of exotic wood.
The volumetric articulation of the main facade, which positions the entrance space on the ground floor set back under the main volume of the floor, creates a more intimate and protected entrance, a wider sidewalk impression and a living facade that animates the street, while echoing the urban alignments of adjacent buildings. This trick also makes it possible to accentuate and improve the transition between the interior and the exterior (non-existent in the case of neighboring buildings).
