CARGOarchitecture's second major intervention on the Complan Building built in 1958 was not without challenges. It was necessary to intervene in the respect of the existing building, and this without coming into conflict with the important expression of the 5th floor in exposed wooden structure built in 2013.

We had to strengthen the brand image of the trade with an intervention that will benefit from the high traffic of this artery. The objective was to create a lantern at the entrance to the city drawing on the dynamism of the boulevard, without altering the rigidity of the existing building.

We therefore exposed the west facade which was almost blind in order to activate the arrival at the building. This intervention extends to the third floor to give an impressive showcase to commerce and a lightness to the once massive and introverted building.

This time, the order consisted of fitting out, raising a level and ensuring universal accessibility on the two-storey basilica near Boulevard Laurier to accommodate the first location of the Must Société Store in Quebec City.
The contents of the building being exposed, it came naturally to be inspired by textiles, in connection with the furniture store, to create a double perforated facade ensuring cohesion between the new and the existing.

Même si les infrastructures de la maison existante ont été conservées en partie, les agrandissements majeurs font complètement renaître le projet en tant que résidence d’exception, unique en son genre et conçue selon les plus hauts standards de construction durable. 

L’objectif initial était de donner une toute nouvelle vie à une résidence familiale en bord d'une falaise avec vue sur le fleuve de la région de Québec.

Chaque détail architectural a été minutieusement développé, tout comme les systèmes structuraux et mécaniques qui optimisent le bâtiment du point de vue énergétique et technologique.

La nouvelle structure sur mesure en bois d’ingénierie, omniprésente dans le projet, représente le fil conducteur du concept et fait le lien entre les différents espaces et fonctions.

Le béton et l’acier servent ensuite de support au bois en étant habilement intégrés selon les diverses exigences structurales, notamment en raison des porte-à-faux et leurs intéressants défis techniques.
