CARGOarchitecture's second major intervention on the Complan Building built in 1958 was not without challenges. It was necessary to intervene in the respect of the existing building, and this without coming into conflict with the important expression of the 5th floor in exposed wooden structure built in 2013.

We had to strengthen the brand image of the trade with an intervention that will benefit from the high traffic of this artery. The objective was to create a lantern at the entrance to the city drawing on the dynamism of the boulevard, without altering the rigidity of the existing building.

We therefore exposed the west facade which was almost blind in order to activate the arrival at the building. This intervention extends to the third floor to give an impressive showcase to commerce and a lightness to the once massive and introverted building.

This time, the order consisted of fitting out, raising a level and ensuring universal accessibility on the two-storey basilica near Boulevard Laurier to accommodate the first location of the Must Société Store in Quebec City.
The contents of the building being exposed, it came naturally to be inspired by textiles, in connection with the furniture store, to create a double perforated facade ensuring cohesion between the new and the existing.

Toujours à ses débuts en Amérique du Nord, ce système innovant peut être comparé à d’imposants panneaux de contreplaqué uniques de grandes dimensions remplaçant la charpente de bois traditionnelle. 

L’équipe de Cargo Architecture a obtenu le mandat de concevoir une retraite qui bénéficierait au maximum de son environnement exceptionnel qu’est Lake Placid. Le CLT (bois lamellé-croisé), une technique innovante dans l’industrie, fut utilisé comme système constructif pour répondre à ce mandat.

L’expertise de Cargo Architecture lui a permis de développer une série d’innovations constructives tirant profit au maximum des avantages de ce système révolutionnaire.  

La rigueur du système constructif du projet se reflète notamment dans son organisation intérieure efficace, conviviale et ordonnée, offrant une multitude d’espace destiné à la famille et aux invités. 

Toutes les pièces sont orientées sur le Lake Placid et s’emboîtent entre elles pour contribuer à l’effet de rassemblement de la villa.

La forme contemporaine de la villa ainsi que l’utilisation de matériaux de construction locaux résultent tous deux d’une réinterprétation contemporaine de l’habitation traditionnelle Adirondack.
